Sharp AQUOS LC40LE700UN 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV
I wanted LED for four reasons: light weight, low heat, low wattage, and great picture. The 40″ Sharp Aquos LED exceeded my expectation for all four. There is absolutely NO heat emitted from the unit. It weighs only 30 pounds. The picture is the BEST I’ve ever seen in a TV -I’m not kidding here- the BEST. I waited about 6 months to post this feedback, thinking something might go wrong but no problems at all.
My folks bought a 50″ Plasma at the same time and they’ve had a horrible time with heat coming from the TV; seems to heat the whole room (though that would be a nifty option on cold winter nights). Additionally their TV is extremely heavy and not easily moved. Their picture is nowhere near as good as mine.
I believe this TV is underpriced, and a very good deal. I ordered through Amazon, and the delivery & installation was extremely good.

First off – this does not have local dimming. It took me a while to confirm that before I purchased it. I got it in spite of this feature not being present because of the price – got it from a local store who not only matched Amazon price but took another 10% down to makeup for the taxes – got lucky i guess…
PS3 games look awesome and blueray movies are really good. The built in speakers are useless, but I don’t use those anyway. The built-in browser is a waste. The only irritating issue is the dimming when credits roll – just as another reviewer pointed out. I turned the automatic dimming off and it became tolerable. The viewing angle is not bad, but not as good as high end Sonys.

Sharp AQUOS LC46LE700UN 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV
When I was looking for a 46 inch LCD-TV, I had narrowed my choices to Sony Bravia and Samsung LED models. I felt that they had the best picture when comparing them in the stores. I saw an ad in the local newspaper for an LED backlight Sharp that had the LED throughout the back instead of the outside frame like the Samsung. When I compared the pictures at the store, the Sharp seemed to have just as good a picture as the Samsung and Sony which were similarly priced at the local store. However, I checked Amazon and found the Sharp for $600 less than list and $400 less than the local store. It was a deal that I couldn’t pass up. I was somewhat concerned with the low price but I have had the HDTV for a few weeks and am very satisfied. I had read all of the reviews that I could find prior to buying but the model was fairly new and not many reviews had been written. When watching the HDTV at home, there are no other sets there to compare picture quality. But the picture is sharp, clear, and colors vivid. I am using an antenna and do not have cable or satellite.
Some of the negatives that others have commented on are slow channel changing, slow turn-on (however it’s in power saver mode), etc. But these are minor to me compared to the picture quality for the price. When I watch a movie on DVD or over the air, I use a surround sound system, so the average sound quality provided by the TV is not an issue and adequate for most programming.
