Samsung LN-T4681F 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with LED Backlight

Samsung LN-T4681F 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with LED Backlight

Best LCD I’ve seen to date, bar none. I did my homework for quite sometime and found the 81F series to be a hidden gem. This being the 2007 LED backlit series, it was $1,000 cheaper than the 2008 Samsung LN46A950 (120Hz). Thankfully, I got mine in time: the 2009 Luxia series Samsungs LNXXB8000 (240Hz), LNXXB7000 and LNXXB6000 do not have local LED dimming! What’s the point of having an LED backlight? Grab your A950 and 81F series while you can.

Only one notable con: sound quality. Certainly not a deal breaker, but you’ll definitely not want to depend on the internal speakers.

Sony Bravia XBR KDL-55XBR8 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Triluminos LED LCD HDTV

Sony Bravia XBR KDL-55XBR8 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Triluminos LED LCD HDTV

The 55-inch Sony XBR8 has a fantastic picture quality right out of the box. It looks great on the wall although not as slim as the new LED TVs. But remember that the XBR8 has a back-lit system which makes the TV somewhat thicker. But I will chose the back-lit picture quality over a slimmer look any day.

We then got the Harmony 900 remote to control the TV, the DVD player, the Yamaha soundbar, and the cable box. I would highly recommend the Harmony 900 remote to go with the Sony XBR.

Toshiba REGZA 47ZV650U 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with ClearScan 240, Black

Toshiba REGZA 47ZV650U 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with ClearScan 240, Black

i lucked out with the 47-Inch Toshiba REGZA 1080P 240Hz LCD HDTV
Delivered yesterday and Out of box HDMI Color and picture-perfect and not even yet calibrated.

2 yrs ago i bought a 40″ Samsung LCD HD with Best Buy’s 4yr warranty; good thing because the back-lighting started going out in shadowy patches. The GEEK SQUAD guy came ASAP and reported that the “accountants” decided it was more “cost-efficient” to swap the TV than fix it. I got credit for an equitable swap and went to store the next day. I was debating between another (larger) 46″ LDC Samsung or Sony when i saw a 47 “Toshiba REGZA 47ZV650U with Dolby sound. I was never happy with my Samsung audio so that got my attention. (the last Toshiba i had was a tape-deck! so this was a gamble) When i saw it had ClearScan 240(tm) with Backlight Scanning, i said, “I want that one.” (and paid the additional price)

So far my new Toshiba TV is fantastic! (i bought another store warranty. The old days of 20 year working TVs are long gone.)
